Having a professional looking and concise business card is a great way to network yourself or company whilst promoting your website, assets, and contact information.

The card sides displayed above are an early draft of a business card I made for myself near the end of my time at university. The top left side features an early logo I designed for myself while the second side, bottom right, features my contact information and main skills.

To create a successful business card you must be able to summarize your skills and/or assets in a few short, punchy lines to entice your viewer as well as a crisp and coherent logo and colour scheme.

Having information and visuals on both sides of your business card is a great way to engage the recipient of your card. Make sure to focus on creating two focal shades for each side of your card: a lighter tone for your information side, and a darker side for your logo or business title. The section in which you display your name/title should be the most clear and largest text face on your card.

Creating a colour scheme for your card provides a ubiquitous feel and look to your business card As seen from the example above, shades of blues are pulled from the visual on the front side and featured in the text on the back, all complimented from the duality of gold shades used in the logo and framing of the card text.

Publishing Your Business Card

Once the design aspect of your card is finished it is time to publish it in physical form. There are many sites and businesses that specialize in printing out business cards. Try and look for options such as card stock, indentation, and ink types. The physical feel and quality of your business card is just as important as the visuals.
